Landscapes
There’s something sacred in nature. A beautiful sunset, dappled light dancing on the forest floor, water lapping against the shore, snow blanketing a rocky outcropping. I love capturing the beauty of nature on canvas.
Wildlife
A recent addition to my repertoire are wildlife pieces. I’ve been having fun painting colourful and cheerful little birds and noble & stoic big mammals that we find in Ontario and Quebec – such as moose, caribou, deer and polar bears.
Vanitas
The Dutch painted ‘vanitas’ scenes with skulls, flowers and slightly rotting fruit to express the brevity of time and to remind us to make the most of the time we have. I often think about how fast time flies and the ephemeral nature of youth and beauty. I’ve painted these skulls as my ode to the Dutch masters.
